Production has recommenced on the cinematic endeavor known as “Venom 3,” as relayed by the film’s luminary, Tom Hardy, via an Instagram post on a Friday. Expressing gratitude for the collaborative journey from V1 to the current juncture, Hardy acknowledged the phenomenal ensemble of cast and crew, comprising both cherished friends and family. The trilogy delves into the narrative of an extraterrestrial symbiote coexisting within the same universe as the iconic Spider-Man.
A glimpse into the “Venom 3” set was previously offered by Hardy on Nov. 16, indicating that the cinematic odyssey has been underway for several days.
This revelation comes on the heels of SAG-AFTRA’s approval on Nov. 8 of a tentative accord to bring an end to the 118-day actors’ strike. Coinciding with the strike’s resolution, Sony Pictures opted to postpone the film’s release, shifting it from July 12, 2024, to Nov. 8. The production hiatus endured by “Venom 3” precluded its completion in time for the original summer release, a predicament shared by other cinematic giants such as “Mission: Impossible 8,” now deferred by almost a full year to 2025, courtesy of Paramount.
Building upon the consecutive triumphs at the box office with 2021’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” ($502 million globally) and 2018’s “Venom” ($856 million globally), “Venom 3” is under the stewardship of Kelly Marcel. As the director and wordsmith for the trilogy, Marcel receives commendation from Hardy in his Instagram post, expressing pride in her directorial prowess and emphasizing trust in her instincts.
